Forward Progress

We have made progress on the upstairs portion; a big shout out to Bert for the help. There was a lot of ripping, tearing, pulling and banging for about a week, but it is nearly bare now and I can almost imagine where the new rooms will go.
The boys still like to go over and help and really don't need too much direction anymore.
All of the drywall is down since I took these pictures. The old flooring is up and the powder room is gone; it really is bare now. As I type this, Adam is over starting to frame parts of the bottom. I love forward progress! He promised not to touch our living area until after Christmas, so life as I know it will soon be over. Say some prayers for my sanity ;)

New Door (Part 2 - The Giant Hole)

This is what they finished day 1
Day 2 was the actual break through
This is our new front door. Unfortunately, they made the wrong frame so we can't install it until the new frame is done after Christmas.
Until then...

New Door (Part 1)

Last week we had to make way for the new door and, of course, it rained. Still exciting! The J bros donned their ponchos just like dad and everyone got to work. The anticipation of seeing a giant hole in the front of the house was worth being cold and wet.
It did eventually stop raining and all the boys came out to work on bricks.
Such good little workers :)

Long Time Coming

I have been waiting a long time to do this. The boys, of course, thought it was hilarious. I thought it felt great!
The demo is going...well...slowly. We have gotten a lot done, but there is so, so much to do. Elijah is loving the time with his dad and is proving to be such a huge, little helper. He took out all the bathroom tile by himself and just goes to town on the walls!
He also took out the carpet on the stairs. I am so thrilled he is getting this experience and chance to learn from Adam. What better way to learn how to be a man than hands-on experience?
The other boys have been helping too, but they get bored quickly and find other things to do.
What a great addition to this adventure we are already on!

Big Changes

I have been playing around with the idea of blogging again. It's been quite awhile since my last post and in that time we have had a ton of changes. Adam started a new job, we had Micah (boy #5), I became the creative activities coordinator for my MOPS group and began selling Lia Sophia and we even got a puppy. Life has changed a lot, but we are embarking on another change. A giant undertaking that envolves the whole family and we have no idea how long it will take. Scary stuff. So what is this massive change? We are making our duplex into a single home...we must be crazy. This will be no small feat. We are already knocking down walls and kicking up dust. We have to demo an entire side and then rebuild...
Anyway, this is what made me take the plunge back into the blog world. Writting, for me, is cathartic. It helps me sort out the emotional gobbeldy gook and find a more pure feeling in this crazy life Adam and I have built. Don't get me wrong, I love the crazy and I love this blessed life, but I need an outlet. I also want to document our progress and give anyone who is interested an inside look at the chaos. So, without further delay, here is the first week of the Camp Thompson Remodel.
